Waiting for more Success Stories!

KathyS, 37y, ttc 2 years, 1 m/c 8/99, 1st IUI sucess 2/06/01, 16 weeks, EDD 10/31/01, It's a Girl! I finally feel safe in posting my success story. I had my amnio done on 5/17 and we just got the results back and its a GIRL! DH and I have been trying for 2 years. Our first pg was easy, dh could hardly believe it. I mc'd at 8 weeks. I was extremely upset but figured heck we'd just get back in the saddle again. It was easy right? Ever since then my periods were irregular and my doctor had no answers. During all this several of our friends managed to get pg, one had only stopped birth control pills the month before! I was really getting depressed and avoiding our friends. I decided to change doctors because I felt my obgyn wasn't aggressive enough. Dh went to a urologist and found out his motility was borderline and he had a varicocele repaired. My new doctor did a hsg and everything was clean and clear. He gave me a referral to a RE. The RE put me on clomid and estrogen and DH and I decided to go the IUI route. I felt I might not be making enough cm. I had the IUI done on 2/6/01 and on day 11 I had some spotting. I thought AF was here because I always spot a few days before she arrives. I was really upset to say the least. Dh insisted that I do a HPT to make sure I wasn't pregnant. I didn't think it would help being so early after O. We saw a faint line! Was it real? I made Dh do a HPT on his urine just see if the line was just a shadow. There was no line on his! I called my RE's office the next morning and had a serum HCG done. It was 128, four days later it was 904, and four days after that it was 5766! After our first mc we decided to wait before we told everyone. We told our parents and close friends. We finally told at 12 weeks everyone else. I had an amniocentesis done at 15 weeks and everything is ok. I want to thank this site for all the support I received during my "journey".

Well, we did it! After TTC for about 14 mos, going thru clomid, provera, lap, and much poking & prodding. I'm actually pregnant! I'm not sure how this all works with success stories & such, but here's how it finally happened...I have "classic" PCOS. Since Clomid didn't work for me, my RE tried me out on Follistim injections. First cycle was a bust, because my system freaked out a bit & I was a shoe-in for OHSS. After that bit of excitement, we tried another cycle of injectibles (lower dosages this time). By CD 11, I had two big follicles ready to go, 18 & 20, so Dr. gave me my Rx for hCG shot that evening. We DTD that night (Thursday), again on Saturday morning & once more for good measure (or really just for fun) on Sunday. We couldn't do IUI because of insurance & the Dr. was pretty sure it wasn't going to work without it (but I had faith that it would). My Dr. didn't have me temping or anything--"Just go to the lab if no AF in 2 weeks..." By the 2nd week, I knew something was up. I was either pregnant or really sick (my digestive system was none too pleased either way). On June 1, I went to the lab & my test was ++++++! (hCG=83) A follow up test the next Friday gave hCG = 1010! Now I'm 8wks+3days PG. We saw the heartbeat last week--really cool! I'm still in a state of unbelief & DH is beside himself. I was beginning to think it wasn't in the cards for us, but I'm really glad it was... Kathy McNiel (AKA KathyMc) |

I'm an overweight success story :-) Posted By: Ree Mommy to Kathryn Grace, ttc#2, CD 5 (glucophage) Thursday, 21 June 2001, at 3:25 p.m. I was also 70lbs over weight when I finally got pg after trying for 3.5 years. I have pcos. I was very lucky I was not hungary during my pg. I begged the baby to use what I had first then add on at the end. The first tri-mester I lost 13 lbs. and gained 15 the whole pg, so I like to say I gained 2 lbs. from pre pg weight. :-) Try to cut down on carbs and sweets, because we always have the risk of getting gestational diabetes. Of course you know that being in better shape, not just down in weight will be so much easier for you and the baby. Start walking, not so much to lose the weight but to be in better shape, Do pelvic lifts to strengthen the lower abdomen for the 9 monht trip and delivery. :-) Now that I've dished out that advice I'd better start eating it myself LOLOL
Good Luck to you
P.S. after dd's delivery I was down 40lbs. from pre pg weight, BUT well somehow 1/2 of that has found it's way back to me ARGHHHHHH |

Oh my !!! I never thought this day would come! (m)
I got a ++ this morning!!! I don't want to say "I'm pregnant" yet, it just feels so strange! I used a clear blue easy test, and the + came up right away, after about 5 seconds! I don't know exactly what dpo I am, because I stopped keeping track long ago, but I know that today is cd29, probably between 12-14 dpo. I've felt pretty much the same this month as every other one of the 20 months. I had a tiny bit of pink spotting 2 days ago, then it pretty much stopped. I've also had some cramping and gassiness, like af cramps, but less in quantity/magnitude. Extremely sore boobs, but that's pretty normal. Oh, the other thing is, I felt extremely calm and at peace with it, unlike usually. I guess you can say I let go of the anger! What did we do differently this time? Continued to bd well beyond the time I thought I might be ovulating. In the many months I had to perfect the process, I noticed that my period would come later than expected which led me to believe I was ovulating a day or two or three later than I thought (even though cm stopped much earlier and temps indicated otherwise). Usually, we were too tired to keep bding beyond, say, cd 16, but this time we perservered on!!! OK, I have so many questions -- like WHAT DO I DO NOW??? I just moved so I don't have a doctor yet, and I don't have insurance that covers maternity! I don't care, I'll pay out of pocket for this!!! I'm so scared -- please pray for me that this stays with me!! Here's the amazing thing, guys. Last cycle, I was real upset about not being pg, and not being able to start medical treatments for it (insurance does not cover; neither dh or I are working this summer; 2 mortgages!) My mom said "just have faith. I know the reason you can't go to a doctor now is because you don't need to!" How did mother get so wise??? Also, my mil out of the blue brought me a rose last cycle (although, I can't put too much stock in that, because dh had a big falling out with them -- I don't even know if he'll tell him about this for awhile!) Anyway, I'm babbling! thanks for your kind support over the many months! Even though I haven't been around much lately, I really appreciate all the friends I've made through this board!
love,

Just wanted to let you all know that we have been trying since Sept. '00 and have done just glucophage, then clomid too at 50mg, 50mg, 100mg then 150mg. No o with 50, did o with 100 and did failed IUI. Last cycle did IUI Wed. 6/6 when follicle was 22-24mm and did HCG trigger afterward. Then dr went out of town and so couldn't do IUI at 36 hr. mark, so we used eggwhites to substitute for no cm (dr said ok) and whamo! Don't know if it was IUI or eggwhites, but I o'd 6/8, two days after IUI and at 14dpo got ++++ after about 5 seconds on hpt! I am so excited and wanted to let you know my story, b/c they helped so much when I was ttc. I'd print them all out and file them in my hope file. I am now 5w5d and pg is in the uterus and doing well. I have sore boobs (sorry, but they are really sore and growing) and pee a lot. I'm also tired from the relaxin being released. I pray for each and every one of you!! Baby dust *~*~*~*~ |

DH and I started ttc in May. Went off bcp in April after 13 years. First cycle went pretty well - used OPK's and got the positive around day 24, with sore bbs and the other classic symptoms. Only problem was that af showed 9 days later, making my Luteal Phase WAY too short. Second cycle I began charting my temps, monitoring my cm, and added some weapons to my "arsenal". Began drinking green tea daily (decaf), gave up my beloved Pepsi in the a.m., and ate an awful lot of carrots! Gotta work on that EWCM! haha. Also began RR (red raspberry), which I am just certain MUST have done it for me! Took it religiously every morning throughout the cycle. By cycle day 30 I hadn't seen O, even though dh and I bd'ed like O was coming any day now. Finally gave up the cycle as annovulatory, although come to find out from the ttc'ers on the site that my temps were great pre-O temps. Dh and I bd'ed one night TWICE just for fun, and wouldn't you know it - temps SOARED the next day! Bingo! O! I was thrilled, not because we hit the O time right, but because I actually O'ed! Then I played the waiting game with my temps. I didn't even THINK about pg this cycle, I was just hoping and praying that my luteal phase would go longer. At 3 dpo I began over the counter progesterone cream, hoping that might give a little nudge in the help with the luteal phase. Had twingesin my right ovary area from about 3 dpo onward. Was worried that the progesterone cream might be doing it, but decided to continue cream until af arrived. AT 8 dpo I began the queasy heartburn. It was just there and made me feel just nauseous enough to be uncomfortable. That continued, and the right side twinges turned into right side ovary cramping - like a pulled muscle at times. As my luteal phase went longer and longer - reaching day 12 then 13 then 14, I was jumping for joy! Woohoo! I have a normal luteal phase! I can eventually support a pregnancy! By day 15 and 16, with no af symptoms in sight and the ovary pain continuing with the nausea and heartburn, I began to wonder... On day 14 I did take an Equate (Walmart) pg test, but the results were "inconclusive". I had the world's faintest line! I panicked! But after calming down and thinking maybe I could be pg, I took two more equate tests that afternoon and evening. I got the big fat white space blank that we all dread so much. So, I gave up. Continued temping, and when we arrived home from camping on day 18 with my nausea and ovary pain still in tow, I decided "what the heck" and tested with a Fact Plus stick. POSITIVE! Took another later on after drinking a lot of water and got a positive again! Very exciting! My post-o temps are lower than many successful charts I've seen so I want to share them: Pre - O temps range from 96.8 to 97.3
SYMPTOMS: still just the nausea (a little worse now), lack of appetite, heartburn, and ovary pain which is the ovary that has the corpus luteum cyst. NO sore bbs, no vomiting, no other "classic" symptoms or HIGH temps. There is hope for us Short Luteal Phasers, Irregular Cyclers and Low Tempers!
