DH and I were married in June, 1999. We had dated for over 5 years (we met in college). Children have always been a part of the plan, so it was a matter of timing for us. By our original plan, we would start trying next summer, so the baby would be born just before my 30th b-day. Well, I got anxious and convinced him that maybe we should start trying this summer instead. I had my yearly GYN appointment in March and mentioned to him that DH and I might start trying in a few months. Well, immediately he wanted me to start temping and told me that at a minimum he thought I would have to take medication (Clomid). I have very irregular periods and always have. The dr told me he thought that I was not ovulating and if I was it wasn't normal. So, I walked out of this appointment overwhelmed and confused. I never imagined that it might be this difficult. When I told DH about it, we came to the decision to throw away the birth control and officially start trying to conceive, since we might be facing a lot of difficulties. Anyway, I started temping as soon as I got home from the drs. I had AF in Feb, but nothing yet in March. Well, my temps were a straight line, definitely no O. So, I took provera to bring on AF. The next cycle I began temping and had a progesterone test on day 21. The level was .7, but at about day 30 I started having O signs and then my temp rose. I didn't figure that I could get pg, I was just happy that I didn't have to take provera! So, AF came and I had my prescription for Clomid filled. I was very lucky that I did not have any side effects from the Clomid. The first month went well, I had good temps, O'd on cd 20, and AF arrived 16 dpo. I was a little disappointed, but I knew I was onto the next month. The next month went similarly, but I think I O'd on cd 17. I had some creamy CM for about a week after O, which I did not have the cycle before and I was so hungry all the time. Other than that I did not feel any different. I tried really hard to wait until 12 dpo to test, but I broke down and tested on 11 dpo and got a faint ++. Starting on 11 dpo, my BBs began to get tender, but still, no obvious symptoms. I had my
first beta at 16 dpo and the second at 18 dpo. Since I found out my BBs have
gotten much more sensitive and the nipple area has gotten a little darker. I
am beginning to feel a little more tired. When I go to sleep at night I am
out like a light and I am not usually a heavy sleeper. I am still hungry all
the time, but I have not had any morning sickness, yet!

first response test. We have been ttc #2 for 6 months and I took clomid for the first time this month and I O'd around cd19. I used an OPK and BBTs. I was afraid it didn'twork this time because we did not bd on my peak day but we did every other day for a week before. My DH is 50 and I am 25 and the poor dear is starting to feel his age :) My temps were erratic at first because I was traveling and had a few sleepless nights but they did seem to go triphasic 11dpo. I have had sore bb's for a few days and some minor nausea in the morning.
Thank you ladies for all of your stories. Joanna EDD April 18, 2002 |
