Colleen, ttc #1, 33 years, 13dpo
Hi Ladies, It was confirmed via blood work on May 17th that I am pregnant! I know how important reading everyone's symptoms were to me, so here are mine: I went in for blood work on 12 dpo and it was confirmed!!! I had a 51 hcg count which the nurse said was fine. Symptoms: Sore boobs are common for me after ovulation, but the difference was that the nipple area was more sensitive. I felt sharp zings periodically from dpo 8 to present day. Since 8dpo I have felt af cramps but they are more centered in my mid uterus region rather than to one specific side. My cp has fluctuated up and down over the past week, but has mainly stayed high and firm. I have had some uncanny surge of energy, I usually awake between 5:30-6 am, but lately have been rising at 5:00 am fully refreshed and unable to fall back to sleep. Although I am only at 13dpo, both my husband and I feel confident that our little baby will hang in there for 9 months. We have wonderful faith and a positive attitude that this will work for us. Tonight we will call our families and we are looking forward to some emotional conversations filled with much love - yippppeeeeee!!! I could never have gotten through these last 5 months without this site, and I thank each and every person who had the heart and courage to share their more intimate feelings. Every time my hpt came back (-) I would race to the board and read stories of other women who were experiencing the same dreadful feeling I was, and somehow it make it "ok". The stories were filled with despair and sadness but someone always managed to bring out the positive and the laugher in us all. Although I never shared my own feelings until today, I am most grateful for your strength and guidance. The support shown on this site far surpasses any other and the genuine love felt between all of us truly radiates as strongly as the shining sun. Please, from the bottom of my heart, thank you and I wish each of you ttc the very best of luck. Sending fresh and loving baby dust from me to you. xoxoxox++++++xoxoxox+++++++xoxoxoxox+++++++xoxoxox

I have waited a long time to write this story! I am 33, my DH is 48 and I am finally pregnant!! We started actively "trying" over 5 1/2 yrs ago. My Dh had a vasec reversal about 9 yrs ao, so we knew it would take awhile. Just not this long! We fianlly went to a fertility clinic 2 1/2 yrs ago and started IUI's. On our 2nd natural IUI, we conceived, but it was a chem pg and lost at 5 1/2 wks. After 8 more IUI's w/clomid, injecs, etc..we decided to move onto IVF. With no insurance coverage and no $$, we were lucky to be accepted into an IVF study. Jan '01 we started the cycle. It didn't go very well and I did not get pg. We waited a year to recover and also to figure out how to fianance an IVF cycle. I found an employer who covers IVF and went to work in Oct.'01 . Jan my coverage started and we started our 2nd and successful IVF. The cycle went great and we still have 6 frozen embies! Mar 5 we found out it worked.. Mar 28 we had our 1st ultrasound to check things out and- we are having twins!!!!! We transferred 3 8-cell embies at 3-day and 2 stuck around. I am now 15weeks pg and the babies are doing great!! My advice is DON"T GIVE UP!! I thought it would never happen for us.. but here and I and all the waiting in the world is washed away once you are pg!!!!!!!!! Good luck to the rest....

Hi Momma Kath, Here is my success story. I am 10 weeks pg and finally feel confident enough to post after my 5th good u/s! This has been a nervewracking few weeks. I am 42, DH is 52, and we had been ttc for 2.5 years before I got pg. We had seen an RE a couple of times, after numerous clueless OBs. It was frustrating and exhausting, so we really didn't pursue it aggressively. The only things we ever did were an HSG (actually 2, one in 2000 and one in mid 2001), and one cycle of Clomid sometime in early 2001. I hated it. We BD'd at least every other day all month - I quit temping a couple of years ago because it was pointless as I knew I was O'ing and timing was never an issue so it just made me stress more. I did have a feeling I had luteal phase issues because my progesterone level post O was always too low and I always began spotting 3-4 days before AF, but we never had that confirmed. Here's what I did different during the months before we succeeded. Last fall, I started on Dr. Dean Ornish's diet, which is a low fat, low sugar vegetarian diet (I had already been veg for several years, but we ate lots of fat and dairy). I lost 20 pounds by December. I also drank lots of water and tea (green and probably too much black), and tried to cut down my consumption of diet (caffeine free) sodas to 3 per day. I also exercised (walked) daily. We really weren't focused on ttc, because we were in the process of buying some real estate in Northern CA. So we were pretty excited about that. I was more concerned with getting healthy, although I still hoped I would get pg and tried to be positive about that. I think my cycles shortened a bit, from around 30 days to 26-28 days. During December, I remember I drank a few glasses of wine occasionally over the holidays and we just enjoyed ourselves. We spent the week after Xmas in our new place. I ended up getting pg that week, but unfortunately I had a very early m/c at about 5 weeks. We knew from the start something was not right because my beta # was so low. Anyway, my diet pretty much stayed the same over the next few weeks. To our surprise, I got pg the very next cycle (I O'd 12-14 days after m/c). Symptoms around 9-13 dpo were extreme irritability, shakiness in the evening, massive headaches, and generally feeling crappy, as if I were coming down with something. I also began spotting at around 10 dpo but AF never showed. I tested + at about 14-15 dpo and began taking progesterone supps right away. I am now 10 weeks pg and everything looks good so far, although I have had bleeding on and off since 10dpo. The OB says it is a "friable" cervix and a polyp which are causing the bleeding. I had another u/s yesterday so we saw the baby's h/b. It was great. I personally believe the changes in my diet (along with the fact we basically quit stressing over ttc) were instrumental in our success. Sorry this is so long, but I hope it will be helpful to others. ++++ thoughts and fertile wishes to everyone. |
